How the Accelerated BSN Program WorksEarn an ABSN degree in 16 months with Northeastern University's online-based ABSN Program in Boston

Our full-time ABSN program in Massachusetts follows a rigorous, 16-month curriculum consisting of online coursework, hands-on learning, and clinical experiences.

  • Online coursework completed via an interactive e-Learning platform.
  • Hands-on learning and testing takes place at the dedicated program site in Burlington.
  • Nursing simulation labs are held on campus at the Behrakis Health Sciences Center.
  • Clinical rotations take place at top healthcare facilities in the Greater Boston area.

Due to its intense format, we advise our ABSN students to view the program as a full-time job. It’s also important that students stay highly motivated during their 16 months in the program as well as utilize the various support resources that are available to them.

NCLEX-RN® Preparation

After graduating from our ABSN program, you must take and pass the NCLEX-RN to be able to practice as a registered nurse. The exam helps to ensure nursing school graduates across the country have what it takes to provide safe, effective nursing care at the entry level.

Because passing the NCLEX-RN is a critical to a nursing career, we work hard to make sure you feel prepared to take the exam. One of the ways we help you get ready for test day is by having you participate in the Kaplan NCLEX Review process.

ABSN Program Advice

Students who tend to be the most successful in our ABSN program are self-motivated, highly organized, and eager to learn. They view their nursing education as a full-time job and are not afraid to lean on others for support.

Should you enter the ABSN program, we offer this advice:

  • Get to know your professors and their expectations of you ASAP
  • Know your professors’ office hours should you need assistance
  • Stay on track by preparing for your studies a week in advance
  • Form small study groups and lean on fellow students for support
  • Make time for leisure activities and breaks, but maintain a regular study routine
  • Never lose sight of your goal of becoming a nurse

While our ABSN program is challenging, we find that students appreciate its value once they graduate as a practice-ready nurse.
