You Have the Power to Make a Difference – Empathy in Nursing

Working in a hospital setting isn’t always an easy job. There are lots of life events happening all around you – both good and bad. In one room you may find a healthy baby being born while in the next there is a terminally ill child. Both of these situations require a certain type of empathy.

The video below helps put you put yourself in your patient’s shoes. It’s a great reminder for us in healthcare to not become hardened by our jobs and also a reminder to all of us to treat others with kindness.  You never know what the person next to you is going through and you never know what type of impact you can make on their lives.  It’s a tear-jerker, so get the tissues out.

Next time you find yourself in a stressful situation, don’t forget to always treat your patients as you want to be treated. You have all the power to make a huge difference in the lives of people. Ready to move your career in nursing forward? Contact us.
